New wiper blades that fit your vehicle
A clean cloth or towel (optional)
Check:
Your owner's manual.
The size listed on your current blades.
An auto parts store's fit guide or online compatibility tool.
Some vehicles use different-sized blades for the driver and passenger sides.
Turn the vehicle off.
Carefully lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays in the raised position.
If possible, place a folded towel on the windshield beneath the arm to protect the glass in case the arm snaps back.
Most vehicles use a hook-style connector:
Locate the small release tab or button where the blade attaches to the arm.
Press or lift the release mechanism.
Slide the blade downward (toward the base of the arm) to disengage it from the hook.
Remove the blade.
If your vehicle uses a different connector (such as a pinch tab, side lock, or bayonet style), follow the instructions included with the replacement blades.
Remove any protective plastic covers from the new blade.
Attach the new blade to the wiper arm using the correct adapter if required.
Slide or snap it into place until you hear or feel a click.
Gently tug on the blade to confirm it is securely attached.
Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
Do not let it snap down, as the exposed metal arm can crack or chip the glass.
Replace the second blade using the same process.
Spray windshield washer fluid or wet the windshield.
Turn on the wipers.
Check that they move smoothly without streaking, skipping, or making unusual noises.
Replace wiper blades about every 6–12 months, or sooner if they leave streaks or chatter.
Clean the rubber edge occasionally with a damp cloth to extend blade life.
If new blades still streak, clean the windshield thoroughly and inspect the wiper arms for damage or bending.
If you're unsure which attachment type your vehicle uses, the instructions included with your replacement blades typically show how to install the adapters for the most common connector styles.
